Key areas to focus on during the match…
Attack • getting ahead after every pass, • Positive receipts with feet facing forwards on receipt • attacking in packs (3s) • Baseline 90's, J Turns and overloads (Backdoor) • Big D Little D • Get outcomes and be clinical: 1) Take a shot, 2) get a foot, 3)make a pass (Whatever, dont lose the ball by giving it away in the D)
Defence • Setting the press early • Leaving one side of press open to apply pressure to and squeeze • Physically stop the space in front of the opposition and stop go forward. • Jump back fast, deny time and space, dictate and channel, win the ball (DONT DIVE IN!) • Always block the middle of the pitch and force wide • In our 25, force the oppo to the corners of the pitch • tick hockey (one side attacks, the other drops back and to always have 3 at back minimum) • Defend in pairs • pressure early
